Relief

Sometimes, a smile is all you need
A beam that’s pure, makes you believe
That every problem that may seem too big
Is easily relieved
A simple hug, a quick embrace
A hand to wipe what’s stained your face
Can mend a heart, can stop the bleeding
Tell me, can you feel relief
Ears that hear and don’t respond
No accusations of what went wrong
A slate so clean, you can finally breathe
How does it feel to be relieved

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. I… pressed the close button on an elevator door when I saw a woman running to catch it.

Remnants

I’ve come to the conclusion that you never actually stop loving someone. You may fall out of love, you may even begin to love someone else, but “getting over” a person who once consumed your every thought and attention is a ridiculous cliche.
